McLuckie, (founder and owner of Coffeelovers Coffee shop), and Steve
Lane, (pastor of Redland Valley Church just outside Lewisberry) have
both asked, “What is next?” Dave sought to reach out to the
community and help Christians connect with one another through the
coffeeshop. Steve has hoped to offer an early morning, informal
worship service to reach out to the community. The two have joined
forces and resources to offer Coffeelovers Community, an 8:30am
worship service starting September 10, 2006 and will feature talented
musicians, informal teaching, and of course free coffee. These
weekly services will take place in the Redland Valley Church
gymnasium. Located on RT392 (Lewisberry Rd.) Lewisberry, just south
of Lewisberry, "on the hill."
Goals and Purposes
- Help people connect
with God through an informal setting
- Draw non-Christians
and those not attending church regularly
- Help Christians
connect with one another
- Draw together talented worship leaders
to use their gifts and encourage others
Coffee will be free for everyone who
attends, In the Redland Valley Church gym, 8:30 to 9:30am, Sunday
mornings. To draw people to church who would not visit the 10:30
worship service. Offering an alternative service in a new setting
with different music is the best avenue to reach more people. This
includes those who do not yet know God and others who simply do not
currently attend church.
Instead of sitting in pews people will
sit in chairs and at tables. Musicians and singers from area
ministries will lead worship. Steve will deliver less-formal sermons
including some discussion. No offering will be taken during the
service, but boxes will be in the back for those who wish to donate
funds. Children will be welcome at the service, and Children’s
Worship will take place only at the 10:30am service. The nursery
will be staffed for infants for parents who choose to use it.
